I'm shopping for my first BMW. I'm primarily interested in a sedan with automatic transmission, because my wife will drive the car from time to time. I'm concentrating on CPO 2007 and 2008 models. I've found a few cars that appear promising. One of them is a 2007 525i. I've also found a couple 328s I like, a 328xi and a 328i. I'm not looking for a hot rod, just a nice, comfortable daily driver that's fun to drive. Should I be concerned that the 5-Series is too big of a car for that engine?
Any advice?
Thanks,
Brad

Any BMW is the king of the road. And 525i having 218hp at 6100 rpm and 200 lb-ft at 2400 rpm is more than enough for traveling from place to place. At least I can say that it will beat a mercedes e320 on the track. So your choice is wise.
I would definitely want at least a 530i (2006 or newer so that it has the 255hp engine) for a car that size. I recommend you look for one with the sports package so that you get the lower, tighter suspension.

Hey Brad 737, I just recentley purchased a CPO 06 525i before that I had an 06 325; comparing the two the 325 had a little more pep in its step and was a little tighter in corners, but the size and weight differences are there . I love my 525, but will shortly be looking for a few things to give me a little more power. I agree with drz about the sports package, getting a tighter suspension is also on my to do list for the near future, but dont get me wrong the car is great as is, I just WANT to upgrade those two things but dont need to. Hope this helps out a bit.
How much do you plan to drive it? Your wife would probably be more than happy with it, but if you plan to drive it occasionally, and want to push it once in awhile you'll probably want a 530.
Our 325 is my wife's DD and my weekend car. It's more than adequate, but because I drive it on the weekends sometimes I kick myself for not getting the 330 with sport package!
