Found out today that the transmission is either going to have to be rebuilt or replaced. So no BMW for awhile. I would rather find something else then put another few thousand in this to fix some more of its problems. We will see, I have a tip on a place that can get me a good deal on something because of a connection I have. He got someone a 05(i think) ford 500 for $5000....so I'm going to explore my options there, hopefullyI can get another 90's BMW for pretty cheap.

dunno where you are at but you can always try recycle shops... $400-600.00 tranny's with a 5 mnth warranty ain't so bad.

try eBay even.... on a good day the asking will be 80% less than a dealer quote ;-)

Thanks for the info darkhorse. The financial situation is very very bad right now so it doesnt seem like putting the money into the car is worth it anymore(rolled in the woods at 90 in october). There are still several functional problems and many cosmetic, so if I can find another that is more reliable for around the same price of fixing this one up I'm going to shoot for that, but if not then I'll have to fix the 525 up I guess. Thanks again for the tip.
