Hello, I don't know anything about BMWs but I'm looking to buy a good used car. Today on a company weekly bulletin there is an ad posted to sell a 1990 525, here is the exact wording: "1990 BMW 525, runs great, sun roof, good body, new tires, needs transmission work, $500" How can it run great if it needs transmission work, and about how much would transmission work cost? Thanks.

well you would need to get tranny work done by a dealer... which will most likely quote you for a new tranny and you are looking at a few grand right there.

I wish to welcome you to the forum and try $3000 plus for dealer's tranny. I am in the middle of it on my E39 as we speak! So called my brother in Germnay he is getting it for $1500 plus 25 liters of the life-time fluid. Crossing my fingers while waiting for the shipping!

regards
billb
