520 e39 1998, where is the amplifier ? - BMW Forum

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and I have one question.
I just bought a BMW 520ia 1998 from my dad, he got a 2005 X5. The 520 is a very nice car, but unfortunately the audio system isn't as good as the car. I need to know where the location of the amplifier is in the car ? It has never been modified or anything, we've just never known where it is.
I want to install a subwoofer to get a little more punch out of the sound system.
So if anyone could tell me where the amp is, I would be very happy!

ps. I've searched all over the web and not found any exact location. Just the location of the amp on models with DSP system.

The amp is built in to the stereo unit if its original.

Oh man so there's no amp in the trunk like in the X5 (and others) ? If I want to add a subwoofer I need to take out the whole unit ?
Btw, I forgot to mention that there's not a cd player in the car, but a casette player.

I have been in touch with a friend of mine, he said some had amps and some did not its pot luck im afraid, if you have its in the trunk behind one of the side panels.
