my 535i shakes pretty bad (steering wheel shakes crazy) at around 50 mph. Once I get past 55 or so it goes away. I can even do 90-100 without a problem.
I just put in eibach springs and billstein struts that lowered the car a bit. Before I replaced the springs and struts there was a slight vibration at 50, but now it's a bit much. I got a 4 wheel alignment but it did not help.
I remember reading about a 50 mph shake or something similar in previous posts...

i have replaced both and still shake but its 99% gone. so the last bit ot the shake i believe is my tires out of ballence.

one thing, is if you have aftermarket wheels, then you might have to get hub rings (or hub centric rings). Discount tire sells them. i had this problem with my car, it shook at exactly 50MPH and stopped at around 55-60MPH. They will measure your hub size, and then your wheel hub area gap, and make a fitting accordingly. good luck

i have a '91 535i with aftermarket rims and pirelli tires. i am always getting the shaking at 50mph and it does go away at 55 or so. i was wondering, does the shaking come back for any of you at speeds in escess of 120mph or some of the sharper turns.
yeah, i think over 120 ish, it happened to me too! get the hub rings, it should do the trick.

hey bill. its a good thing you didnt jump into parts. the most important thing to remember, if you have a vibration that only occurs at a certain speed, such as you can drive into and out of the vibration, a general rule of thumb is to check the tire balance first.
