5 Series E34 - Whats your fuel consumtion like ?

Hi Guys, I recently purchased an E34 1989 model 535i and Im thinking its fuel economy is way out.

I filled up with 65 litres of unleaded fuel and it lasted me 400 - 410 km.

Is this normal , the reading on my dash for fuel consumtion is at 16.4L per 100km. In my opinion this should be much lower and I should get a lot more. Please let me know your thoughts, and please offer any advice on what you think may need to bee fixed.

I just purchased my 92 525I and I'm not sure myself, especially when it's in L/KM. I'd have to convert everything to miles and gallons.

That's roughly ~15 mpg. If there was more city than highway, it's not off by much, but I would have a look to make sure it's in good tune.

Yeh , i'll get it looked at . So its nothing in particular that could be causing this ? It only needs a tune ?

My Grandfather has a 730IL ( 8 cylinder ) and he gets 11.5L/100km where I get 16.4. So It seems a fair bit out. I hope I can fix this, it chews through more fuel than my TJ Jeep with 33" Tyres on it.
