just got my 1997 528i and saw that the 3rd gear below drive is supposed to be a sportier shift. i couldn't notice a difference and was wondering if it's supposed to make the car faster. also does it affect gas mileage differently?

S sport mode button?

the sport mode is supposed to make the accelerator more responsie and gas mileage usually is slightly lower on sport.
