Question 3 Questions....plz help

HI,

i have 2 small questions and one very big one.

1. My rear window switches do not work and all others in the center console work perfectly?

2. I was woundering what the positive and negitive power cables are in the read of the car under the back seat bolted down are for. Can i run a audio amplifier off these cables?

3. MY GEARBOX !! When the transmission warms up... It slips out of gear and the message 'Trans Programme' shows. This only happens when i am on a hill or i use the click mode thingy on the accelerator. I has recently become worse as the gear does not stay when u let the gear hold u back. e.g. It slips up and down gears when left without braking downhiss and this is a very jerky and uncomfortable ride...... I suspect a transmission rebuild is needed but was just woundering if there was another solution at all, maybe something electrical like a relay or something?

Cheers
Dean

1) Not 100% sure, but it sounds like your rear window regulators are bad, a common E39 problem (my assumption since I didn't notice your auto type). See bmwtips.com and 540i6.com "They all do that!"
2) Those cables route power forward from your battery to the engine (starter, alternator signal back to battery, etc). I HIGHLY recommend against messing with those whatsoever. Do not touch them. If you have an E39, there is a nice little white connection block located above the trunk-mounted battery that is IDEAL for connecting a sub/amp. Once again, see BMWtips.com: subwoofer installation tip.

Sorry, I cannot help you with #3. Good luck!
