yes,i have gps,but i dont like the maps,
well the bimmer is my cousin and the maps are terrible,
i want to use igo,or other maps,
unless my cousin is not using the latest maps for his bmw.
I would get a stand alone gps unit. Trying to get better maps would probably be way more expensive
""Trying to get better maps would probably be way more expensive""?!
are you talking about oem bmw maps? or the after market maps like igo,garmin,tomtom,etc...?
found some unit here about 500$,and from what i read none of the oem stuff comes out,all stay except you add the gps player and the touch screen in top of the
oem one.
from what they told me ,they send you a 6.5 or 8.8 inch touch screen and it will be installed in top of the oem one,i have to ask about the idrive, because i dont know much about it.
what the idrive does?
sorry i have 740 and x5 ,nothing with idrive,
my cosin has the 5 series and i guess he has the idrive, his in belgium and i am in usa.
see here pdf that they sent me ,how to install it,for bmw.
iDrive is BMWs built in navigation and in screen display. It controls many of the functions in the car. When I said OEM maps would be more expensive is that they would have to be downloaded into the vehicles computer to show on iDrive. For vehicles without that a standalone GPS or an in dash model is perfectly fine. The in dash ones are better in my opinion as they are more discreet and helps make your car less prone to car prowling.
Based on the very poor English response from that I personally would be very leary. Im not a fan of products that don't have English tech support in case something happens. I would be worried about whether or not they would be able to understand what I'm requesting help with.
