It takes about 20 minutes for my a/c to start blowing cold air when the temperature outside is over 85 degrees. This happens when I use the car for the first time that day. Subsequent to the first time, the a/c seems to beginning cooling faster.
Is there something wrong with my a/c or is this just a BMW thing? My dealer says that it takes that long to cool down hot air in the venting system and that there is nothing wrong with my a/c. I don't know. The problem occurs even when the car has been parked inside overnight.
turn your controls to full cold and your blower to HI... you should get cold air in a few minutes. If you don't, something is not right with your climate control
I took my car into the dealer and they replaced the compressor. Everything seems to be working o.k. now with the a/c.
...and from your previous post:
"My dealer says that it takes that long to cool down hot air in the venting system and that there is nothing wrong with my a/c. I don't know."
*hmmm. dealer ate his words?... WHOA!... some was pulling someone's leg, methinks... a manifold guage low pressure reading on the high side & warm air blowing(or slow to cool) immediately indicates compressor problems.
