I am in the process of buying a 2004 530 i. I am an avid audiophile but am unsure if the upgrade for $1800 is worth the money.

Does anyone have the system and or is more familiar with what you get?

Is paying up a waste of money?

I've ordered the premium sound as well, sight unseen...or sound unheard. Based on comments from 7-series owners I decided to go for it. I'm sure you know it's based on the same Lexicon LOGIC7 (stereo and 7.1 channel matrix surround) system as in the 7-series. The in-dash 6-disc changer will be a welcome change from the trunk-mounted one in the current series.

I have the premium sound system and IMHO it is definitely worth the extra $$. The sound quality is so good that when I'm driving I feel like I'm in my living room listening to my home theater system.
