Thank you all. Bought a v60s from verizon. sterling bmw added the cradle - parts and labor 239.00 upgraded I-drive software to ver 12. they would notplug the phone in but tested everything with there phone. I plugged in my v60s and walllah.......works like a dream....total cost 239 + 79 for the phone though verizon. if i had not been onthis forum..would have spent 1000 dollars plus Thank you all
I've been told by Verizon that the BMW V60s phone has a special chip in it that allows it to talk properly to the car's computer system. I've heard from people that do not have the BMW phone that they have to insert the phone into the cradle every time they start the car in order to have the names/address book download and display on the idrive screen.
The BMW parts people told me the BMW phone is the same phone as the Verizon, but the Verizon people said it needs this special chip, and they've replaced a couple phones that didn't have the chip.
Anyone have the straight scoop on this? Is there a BMW programmed chip in the BMW phone??
As this is my Wife's primary car and now primary phone - she does unplug the phone when she parks the car and plugs it in.
If you read the BMW manual all the features that work with the BMW phone are working fine for us with the V60s. Though once I had a no network message and then a minutes later it was fine.
Yes ver 12 is out and that is what they loaded on the I-Drive
