2001 e39 530i has a hard time starting in the cold
my e39 has a hard time starting in the cold. It just cranks and cranks and takes forever to turn over. Ive changed the cps sensor that had went bad but the problem still continues. But once the car has started it starts back up the only time it struggles to start is when i let it sit over night in the cold. Anyone might know what this could be?
How cold does it get overnight?
Can you hear your fuel pump buzzing (for ~2 seconds) when you first turn the key to position II?
How long have you had the car for, i.e. has it performed through cold weather previously?
Is your battery in good condition?
If the engine starts and you kill it immediately (before it warms up) will it start again without any issues, or does it go through the same process if you don't let it run for a while?
about the 20's i havent heard the fuel pump buzz ive had 3 years now its got 110 000 miles on it and its been fine throughout the cold until recently if it starts and i kill it immediately i have to go through the same process
When its cranking over (but not yet started) is there a smell of unburnt fuel from the exhaust, and are you able check that you have a good solid spark?
