2001 540i - Buying Advice

Wassup guys,

Im in the market for a 540i with the sport package and have found one that Im interested in. This car is a 2001 with 143K on the odo. The miles are high but it seems that this owner took good care of this car. Please shed some light as to what need to be replaced by 143K if it hasn't been address already.

Upper and lower thrust arms and bushings (upgraded to Powerflex polyurethane bushings vs OEM)
Cabin air filters
Fan blade
Fan clutch
Radiator
Hoses
Serpentine belt
Auxiliary a/c fan

Thermostat
Expansion tank
Expansion tank cap
Power steering fluid
Brake fluid
Battery (1 yr ago)
Spark plugs
Alternator
Brake switch
Front passenger door lock actuator
Rear ball joints
Final Stage Unit (FSU) for a/c

Wheel bearings (all 4)
Gauge cluster screen replaced by BMWNA due to failing pixels

Oil changed about 300 miles ago

It seems like most of the problem areas have been addressed. More than anything I would just go to a trusted mechanic and have everything looked over really well. You might want to check on the ABS sensor, neutral safety switch, and other electrical parts because electrical problems tend to pop up in E39s frequently. Good luck!

Thats what Im planning to do, get a ppi and see if it is in good condition mechanically. Thanks for the heads up of the other stuff to look for.

This forum move really slow....
