2001 530i Oil

I just went to the gas station to add a few quarts of oil. The attendant put about 2 1/2 quarts of 10w 30, is this oil ok for my car?

I don't see how that could harm your engine.
Did you add the same kind of oil, was it synthetic though?

And wow...how did you get that low, 2 1/2 quarts?

You should be using synthetic in your car in the first place,
You can confirm that from the invoice from your last oil change.

I dunno...a 530i shouldn't burn so much oil. My 540i never used to burn any at all. A little is acceptable, but 2 1/2 quarts over less than 3k miles is a lot.

Do you see any signs of oil leaks? Smoke in your exhaust?
Is your temp gauge showing hot? Do you see any oil in your coolant tank?

I don't know if that is bad or not, but sure is not recommended.
I wouldn't think it will do much harm...if any.

Why would you let someone else put the gas in your car? Why would you let your level go down so low and then ask advice here?
