does anyone know if the 2000+ 5 series headlights, the ones with the 3rd projector style light will work on a 97 528i? they look to be the same in shape. is the wiring the same? do they bolt up? etc....? please help me. i am thinking that my plan b will be to get those smoked lens!?from pcp. has anyone had any luck on those ( do they fog up, leak, fit nice?)
please send some suggestions, comments, and concerns my way
they fit physically, but i believe inorder for the wiring to work, your car needs to have xenons, and if it doesnt, you need to buy balasts and bulbls for them.
someone else could better answer your question though.
You do not need to have Xenons. The '01+ 5-series lights (called the OEM Angel Eyes) come in both halogen and Xenon, and will fit, but will require a Y-adapter and will require you to slightly bend the AC filler pipe on the passenger side. thank you both for the quick reply, i found instructions on how to do it (i think they're right). but does anyone know what kind of dollar amounts we're talking about here? please let me know.
p.s. my sister works for a BMW dealer in arizona so i should get a decent discount. although i have to ship it to chicago.
From http://www.bavauto.com they're $850, but I know that most people who do it get them from eBay (specifically a seller by the name of PAVRAC has gotten good reviews from people who have bought these) for $600-$650.

I bought the ones from Ebay and the PAVRAC guy. Outstanding product. I also put them on a 540i 97. They fit perfectly with a very slight bend in the a/c fill line. Attached is a pic of the 5 and his little sister. As you see the angel eyes are OEM 2001+ quality......
Good luck & BTW, you will save $$$ with the PAVRAC guy.... Not bumping for him, but was completely inpressed with his product........
