Talking 1999 BMW 528i TOURING. Good deal? Reliable?

Hello everyone, I am new to BMW and this forum

We used to be owners of a 1986 Mercedes 300E but got rid of that car cause got too high in miles (244K) and the car's wiring harness was going bad. (typical of W124)

To replace it, We found a 1999 BMW 528i Touring. 115K. Car fax on the internet. This is the car:

Cars for Sale: 1999 BMW 528i Wagon in Cleveland, OH 44102: Wagon Details - 270585721 - AutoTrader.com

Don't forget to check the carfax. It looks pretty good. Went to go see the car. The car heated up in 10 seconds in 27 degree weather here in Ohio.

http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...107|-85|100|77

Thats the carfax. What do you think??

I heard that if these cars had good maintenance for the first 100K, they are set for another 100-150K trouble-free miles...... true???

We would also like to get extended warrenty (after market) suggestions?

Thanks everyone, and HI!!!!!!

In my opinion, the e39 is an excellent car & the maintenance can be cheap if you are aware of the technologies available & if you have a reasonable technical background.

Currently I am having two e39 vehicles & I wish to have another e46 – 330. My first e39, 530i – 2002 has exceeded 370,000 KM now but still in an excellent condition. It is costing me 2500$ every year (every 50,000 KM).

This forum is an excellent source of information to learn more about your car & if you search, you can find some threads about the maintenance cost of the e39.

Finally, I think 7000$ is a bit high for this car unless it is very well maintained & have almost no faults on it. Or else if the tires, break pads, routers, control arms, bushes, belts, filters, are in a good conditions then it can be reasonable price.

This is one of my threads ...

Generally speaking, try to do some maintenance by yourself, visit this site regularly & no need to go for extended warranty. This is my personal opinion …
