1999 528i Battery Draining - Faulty radio

I've isolated the radio as the cause of an excessive draw on the battery, even when the car is turned-off. The LED on the shift console fails to go out after 16 minutes when the car is turned-off (i.e., the car doesn't "go to sleep"). Once the radio is disconnected, the light goes out, the car goes to sleep, and I can start it the next morning or even a couple of days later. A BMW technician recommended radiomanrepair in San Diego as a good place to have the radio unit fixed. Anyone have any recommendations in this matter?

LOS is an unknown quantity at this point
I guess the other choice you have is to purchase a replacement used radio or new unit.
try BMW Parts used and rebuilt bmw auto parts for a replacement "used" unit if you decide to go this route.

I have never heard a radio unit draining the battery before. Usually is some type of light on.
Anyway, good luck

It's the radio all right

Obtained a used radio/tape player off of Ebay for $50. Plugged it in, waited the requisite 15 minutes, the shift light went out, and the problem is resolved. So, there was something amiss with the radio after all.
