Well i guess that means you didnt sell it! Thats good to hear.
It should have reset itself with the battery disconnect overnight. But since it didnt, try this:

Resetting Adaption Valves

PS. SOOOOOOOOOOO glad i dont have smog testing

Whats the issue with "previous history" thats causing it to fail? That I dont understand.

Yay Canada. No smog testing. Home of the most obnixious exhaust pollutant vehicles on the road (outside of Europe!). Especially the diesel trucks.

You might be able to get the diagnostics errors cleared by someone with Carsoft or some similar software in your area. Maybe hit a local BMW workshop and see if they can do this for you.

If they told you that you need to drive the vehicle a long distance then it is probably because your OBD2 readiness "monitors" need to be completed. The only way to do this is by driving the car multiple "drive cycles" in order to carry out the readiness tests and clear the monitors. The purpose of this is because pre-obd2 cars somebody who wanted to get a car through smog while knowing that a defect existed in the emissions systems was able to clear the check engine light with a scan tool then quickly run the car through a smog test before the light came back on and would be able to manipulate the system and get the car through smog.

The OBD generation 2 system was developed in order to prevent people from taking advantage of this loophole. Now, after clearing the check engine or SES lamp using a scan tool there is a series of readiness tests which must be completed in order for the vehicle to pass smog. The only way to complete these tests is to drive the vehicle under a series of conditions. Do a google search for "obd drive cycles" to get an idea of what these conditions are. Also take a look here: Onboard Diagnostic II (OBD II) HELP and here: OBD Monitor Not Ready

Now that you know the terminology there is plenty of info around the net which can help you without me being any more long winded than I already have been. The key is, if the chk engine (SES) light is NOT coming on but the readiness monitors absolutely will not clear then you must determine which monitors are not clearing in order to begin troubleshooting the issue.
Best of Luck,

well I replaced the cap and the check engine light came on even faster than with the old cap. What I dont understand is when i took to smog everything passed but history. So why is it still throwing codes,I dont get. It was a real hot day that day and everything passed. And now the codes are slow responce to both o2 sensors and cat. codes below standerds.I just dont get it. Why does everything work on hot days and not on cooler days? Iam pulling my hair out guys help

It may be time to take it to a specialist shop that can at least identify the problem for you

What I dont get is why it would pass all the smog requirements and then fail becuase of the history. Is it becuase there is a problem with the cats or 02 sensors. But if that were the case wouldnt it fail when its hooked up to the machine? This one really has me stumped. Maybe its time to take it too a shop but Ive been turning a wrench for twenty years but this one is stumping me and plus a shop will charge thru the roof. So if anybody has anymore suggestions please feel free

I'm not a smog tech - but pay attention to what Dirty Tool is saying. I think you're stuck on the word "History" and your smog inspector may have mis-spoke. "After clearing the check engine or SES lamp using a scan tool then completing a series of readiness tests" should be the focus if no active codes are indicated.
