1997 540 radio problems new member

i am so glad i found a 540 forum i have a problem with my radio it has the mute button on and i cant take it off it has a tv navigation onboard computer combo. i cant turn radio on, buttons on steering wheel dont work, but navigation works as well as the on board computer and even tv works but i cant take mute off HELP.is it a fuse? just got the car 6speed love it.

Could there be something causing the radio to act as though a phone or Bluetooth is active?

steering wheel buttons dont respond neither does the mode button on the dash. 6 disc cd changer turns on but cant turn to cd or radio.the on board computer works also . it reads mute on the screen when tv is on. could it be a fuse if so where do i find them good looking out thx.

check the Radio controller, behind the tail light (driver side). Probably due to water leakage which is common problem. You probably need to replace it & maybe replce the tail light with silicon this time to protect the problem from happening again.

which one is the radio controler and where do i get it,how do i remove it thanks bro i will try it ...

In the boot (driver side), behind the tail light. It is 5" box closed to the tail light. Few screws to be removed then, unplug the connector to replace it. Go for second hand one, it make no difference. The seller of the second hand one can test it with your car before you take it from him. like this you confirm that yours is faulty & the one you want to buy is working, and at the same time help you to complete it.

Then, you still need to seal the light using silicone.
