My 535i idle speed is around 500rpm , Is this about right or should it be higher ?

Mine idles at 500rpm and ive seen alot of clusters pictured on ebay etc with the car running and they all seem to idle at twix 500-600rpm.

So its fine, below 500rpm something wrong.

Not really a problem, just had a bit of struggle with emissions with my MOT and i thought it might of been ticking over too low.

It went through in the end though ;o)

If you had an emissions struggle on a 1997 I would say she needs a good tune up or one of your sensors is putting to much fuel in making it run a bit rich or you have a cat converter on the way out.
