As for the bolt pattern: 5x120 74.1mm hub bore, and I believe the stock offset is et20 or thereabout (don't quote me on the offset part).

As for the wheel size ... depends, many different wheels and sizes came on the e39.

edit: model type? 5 series, 2.8 liter

Thanks, my brother is looking at one, and he does not like th honeycomb type wheels. I've had 3 series, so I hav eno idea about these!

I'm assuming you're talking about, what we in the BMW community refer to as "style 5" wheels as seen in this pic:

Definitely some of my favorite OEM wheels. They are 17inx8in wide.

Oh those ... yeah, not really a fan of those. But the good thing is, it's not hard to find a decent set of wheels for not much money.
