| 1997 525i Hydro Steering Rack leak
I have a oil leak in part no. 32 13 6 751 745 (Hydro Steering Rack) on BMW528, 1997ا. My mechanic tells me that instead of replacing the part, he can machine the shaft to make a groove and install a gasket that will stop the leak. According to the mechanic, they had made many repairs like this previously, with an average service life of not less than 5 yrs.
I am concerned this will weaken the shaft and make the car unsafe. Any ideas? |
