I want to say thanx first for the advice, it seems the E34 I'm looking to buy has gotten a bit hot, they replaced the culprit radiator, but then a week later the head gasket gave up the ghost. I'm unfamiliar with the M50b25 motor as I have a 1987 E30 vert, so I was hoping for some input on what other problems may be there with the motor because of overheating beside the obvious new head gasket and head resurfacing. It seems I remember hearing something about a plastic thermostat housing that could give problems...Gratzi!!

The water pump should likely be replaced, making sure not to use one with a plastic impeller. The expansion reserve tank may need replacing also.
