1992 525i high pitched squeal

I just bought the BMW. Test drove it multiple times it was fine. Now there is a high pitched squeal that comes and goes. The tranny was recently redone (so I was told), could it be mounted improperly or is this a belt problem (the belt looks good and is pretty tight)?

I think they put too much oil in it as the reading cold and hot is above the 2nd groove. Check engine light came on.
