1990 525 loosing Power

My brothers car is losing power and the TRASPROGRAM light is on.I need to know what this means if anyone has an idea.The trans.just have a regular service
new fluid and filter that is all i know.The car drive's fine for a few minutes then the light goes on and you can feel the loss of power.The engine also was just tuned.It has a hundred + thousand miles on the odometer.

Has the tranny ever been serviced before? If it hasnt, theres a good chance that the change of fluids this late in it's life caused it to go out. Whats happening is, its locking itself in limp mode for whatever reason (3rd gear i believe)

I noticed you said it was a 1991 in another post. If it was, thats most likely a sealed unit and definately should not have had a fluid change.

I'd take it to the dealer.

Thanks and you are right the Transprogram light goes on whenit switch gears 2nd or third.I will take it to a dealer.

It switches to 3rd gear and stays there when transprogram comes on

get it to a dealer.
