Could you help me to identify this broken plug? It appiers to be broken while exposing 3 metal prongs and is orange in color. What it is and do I need to replace it. Car seems to run good, although I can't compare - I just bought it.

That is the connector for the front crash sensor for the Airbag system. Is your airbag lamp on? Is the connector on the other side just dangling too? The sensors may not be used on your model but the wiring is still there. I dont know off the top of my head which year/models had them and which didnt.
Thanks for reply
Yes it's a connector for the airbag, which this model doesn't have but the wiring is there

Are you sure thats for the airbag? On my car (1990 525 - identical car and on my passenger side) thats the fusible link case that controls the interior electronics. When mine broke it continuously locked / unlocked my doors and turned on / off my radio while driving.
Yes it's located close to fusible link but it has a clone - there's the identical orange connection on the driver side. That would indicate - it's crash sensor plugs.
Mine fusible link box has only botton line connected (two wire connected with a metal tab) though, what should be on the top spot?
