TUMBLEWEED is an unknown quantity at this point
Hello all, I just purchased a used 1989 525i. It had a broken timing belt
and the price was right= 1K. The head has been checked and is not
cracked or warped. The cam was a little worn and a few valves and
rocker arms were as well. I am thinking getting a new cam and having the
head reworked. Probably throw in a new water pump too. The cylinders
looked good with no ridges or sign of damage. Is this straight six an
interference motor?? Do the valves get banged up when the timing belt
goes. Is there anything else I should check before I start. This is my
first BMW. It is from Mississippi and VERY clean. What should I expect
to pay for the head work??? The water pump?? Thanks for any help
you can give me. I have done a lot of GM V8 heads and this will
be my first overhead cam job. I don't want to mess it up!!!!!!

Just a idea:

Swap in a Chevy V8. Some guys are doing it to a 3 series (dont know the site now), and it will be totally sick.

welcome to the forums.
