I heard a high pitched squeal, popped the hood and noticed the serpentine belt was halfway off the tensioner, causing it to rub the cs. the belt is slotted around the ac, gen, ps and cs, the back of the belt is to the tensioner, what could cause it to not be straight? just bought this car and want to do as much myself as possible. Thanks for any help.
Make sure its the correct lenth for the car. Too long and it will slip off. I would highly recomend replacing it, and inspecting the pulleys to make sure their not chipped or damaged. The pulleys have a lip on the edge to help keep it in place.
