i'm in the market for a used '04 530. i've noticed that NONE of the ones i've seen come with NAV. why is that? i'd really prefer NAV, but it seems like they're hard to come by. is NAV worth waiting for? why don't any of the '04's have them?
I think I answered your question on another forum, but early production of the 2004 E60 had no NAV due to computer compatibility issues. Many of these cars were pre-wired to accept NAV when the issues were resolved. Don't recall the exact dates, but NAV was finally installed on 2004 5 series in early 2004. Therefore cars produced between introduction in Sept 2003 and early 2004 did not have NAV. Get the VIN from the dealer since you may be able to get a retrofit, which BMW is offering on these cars at the same price as the original option, $1,800 US I think.
