I have a few questions for those more experienced than I about the engine and how to drive it. First off, where is the icv and vanos located? Where is the MAF (I have the dinan cold air intake) How do I get to the intake's airfilter?
Ok, driving. This car has a ton of power and I find myself peeling out while taking off and switching gears, which really slows me down. Also, the power at lower rpms is sweeeet and not so sweet at the higher end. Any mods I can make to help? Any mods left outside of a major upgrade?
Vanos is one of the BMW variable valve timing systems; it doesn't have any one location. The MAF (mass airflow sensor) should be in the OEM (stock) location, since moving it is irrelevant to detecting the greater air intake from the cia (cold air intake). The air filter should be very easy to locate.
do you have the dinan software installed? I had the dinan air intake and power chip installed with a new exhaust and cats. The car has great all around power but when you hit 4000 rpms the power gets much stronger. Between 4000 and redline it screams and after every shift (unless no traction) the car lunges forward. you shouldn't have less power at higher rpms

I am not sure. I know that I have the chip, cai, and exhaust. I am not sure if the software was installed as I bought the car with the upgrades put in already.

The "chip" is the software. Actually, on your car, there is no new chip, there's just a software change.
