The cylinder head I bought was $500. It's very low mileage. The only work it needed was the two new valves, but given the nature of how it died, I figured it would be prudent to check the remaining valves. The VANOS unit is actually from the engine where my block came from. It's from a 99 323is, and it recently had the solenoid replaced. As I've said before, the M50 uses the same head casting, so I would imagine the heads would look very very similar. The ports may not have been bored out as much, however.
Next installment will probably be in a few weeks, when I have the time to take apart my M52B25 bottom end.
