I have a 92 325i and knew they had a weak subframe. So today when I took off from a stop sign my car made a big bang sound and jumped forward. It was so bad I thought someone hit me, but no one was near me. The car drives completly fine and doesn't feel like anything is wrong. I can not look at it now because it's dark but does this sound like a broken subframe. What should I look for besides a big crack in the frame. Thanks a lot.
I dont know if you have a manual transmission or automatic. If you have a manual, do you get any loud "clunking" noises followed by some back and forward swinging when you shift from gear to gear? or when you're stuck in some kind of traffic, and you put the car 1st to inch it forward, and disengage the clutch, does it give you a loud sound?. This happened to me when my subframe gave out. Sucks. it cost me $600 to repair.
I have a manual. I didn't notice any noise when shifting gears. It happened less than a mile from my house, so I didn't do a lot of shifting since then. Thanks for your responce
where can you check if the subframe is f-ed up like that?
got any pics so that I can check my ride for this problem?
