| Not much input from Europe here so here's some from the UK (allegedly part of Euope :-)...For this size of car diesels are the only game in town now in Europe, the performance of modern diesels is so good that only petrol-heads and those with money to burn buy big engined petrol cars. My 1998 525 tds (affectionately known as 'tedious') is a pre-common rail engine so is not that powerful (144 bhp)..but I've had it for 4 years now and its up to 112K miles. Its a steady, comfortable cruiser that's doing about 1900 rpm at 70 mph...3000 rpm is a 100 mph so I try not to go there! I would be interested to hear more high mileage stories as this is such a well build car, much better than my previous car, a Volvo which are supposed to hold most of the high mileage accolades
