So, I'm stationed in Germany for 6 months. Leaving really soon. A co-worker of mine decided to buy an ///M3 while he was here. Got it straight from the factory, and it will be traveling back to the states with him. He found out I was into BMWs and we have been going back and forth from day 1. He kept saying that he would take me for a drive sometime, but we just never made it happen. Until today.
Last week, he went to see Tiger win the Open, and I picked him up in the middle of the night from the airport, and he told me that I could drive his car as payment, if that was payment enough. used hmmm... "um, okay" I said, and then just waited.
We met in the parking lot tonight, and he handed me the key. Started her up, messed up all his adjustments, then we took off. He took me out on some twisty roads, and to tell you the truth, I babied the car, as it is a $40K+ car, and I don't own it. The car drives amazing as you ///M owners know. He said, "Dang, it's weird riding in the passenger seat." Hell yeah, I'm the first person to drive it besides him. Then we get on the unrestricted autobahn, and I open it up.
Wow.
Floored it, and she passed 160 before I had to get on the brakes for our exit. You ever notice how things move frighteningly fast at those speeds? Like your heart rate?
So now, I am part of the "160" club, and will probably grin non-stop whenever I think about ///M's.
I love BMW's ///Motorsport Division. :

p.s. I know what you guys are thinking. They're supposed to be limited to 155 mph, right? I thought the same thing after he told me that he hit 270 km/h one time. I thought he was mistaken. That speedo goes to 185, and she was sweeping past 160 when I let off the gas. Maybe they don't limit them for unrestricted autobahns in Germany?
