Z4 shifter for a 2000 323i

I am currently looking to purchase a short throw shifter and am wanting to know if a Z4 shifter (late model is the best from what I hear) will fit right into place in my 2000 323i (E46)? I have seen threads to where they will fit in E36 but none for the E46. If anyone has any information I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I've heard about it being done on the E36's but my recommendation is to purchase a kit that you know for certain will fit your vehicle model precisely. If you're going to spend the money make sure it's spent on something that is going to work. I've heard goo things about Rogue Engineering SSK's

My guess is that it should fit just fine. Why is that my guess? Because that is the same shifter that comes stock in the E46 ZHP 330's. This is by no means a guarantee. I think you should try it. Worst-case scenario, you have new bushings for your existing shifter, and you can still sell the shifter to an E36, E30 or z4 owner.

You can always just call bavauto or pelicaparts and tell them what you are wanting to do and if they know (or can find out for you) if it will work.

Thanks guys. I will give them a call to make sure. Anytime I can save some money is always a good thing. Parts for these things are in no way cheap.
