Hey, i just got my 3.25i and i realized i should've gotten the xenon lights, they said its too late for them to put it on, so i want to know how i can get the xenon headlights and still keep my warranty?
i believe that changing the headlights would only void the warranty on the headlights unless they can somehow prove that your new headlights were the source of the problem for other equipment malfunctioning
The thing about warranty is it covers FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT and replaces with OEM parts not upgrades so you could install the xenon lights but the warranty would be void.
PS: E46s don't have adaptive headlights that came out on the E90 (for 3 series)
You can buy the OE retrofit kit from your local dealer. However, the cost will run you through the roof. When I say through the roof, I'm talking double and with labor, triple the price it would have been to get them with the car. In this case, buying the OE retrofit from your dealer will not void the warranty, but you will pay the price.
In my opinion, as a BMW Employee, I suggest you forget about factory warranty on your headlights. It is much cheaper to go the alternative route (JLevi or Umnitza) to get your Xenons, not to mention you can install them yourself and do not require programming. Unless you keep water out of your engine bay, don't flicker your Xenons on and off multiple times, you will not need to worry about the warranty of your car.
well i went to the dealer yesterday and i asked them about it, they said its hard to get the angel lights, but u can prob get the xenon hid kit and still keep the warranty ONLY if u get it installed my bmw service, they said ask the service deperatment.
so i went there and i ask one of the people and he said thats its nearly impossible (wich i didnt blieve him) then he said even if u do it, it might cost u around $10,000. he also said that the hareness will mess up the wireing...true???
but then later during the day, i asked one of my friend's friend who used to work in bmw service and he said that the hid kits are like about $700 each. but he didnt know how much the labor would be.
so confuse, dont know where to go, i just want the blue color lights "xenon" in my car and dont want to mess around with the warranty, im not a car person. i tried to do something on my old car and ended up killing the cpu.
its not hard to get angel eyes, mayhe he is thinking the factory ones that come on the new BMWs and nobody would get xenons if they cost 10,000. That particular dealership may have bad customer service though. Try calling another dealership that is close to you.
It's not just a simple swap headlight for headlight...the cost builds up because you need to buy 2 Xenon Headlight Assemblies and the two control modules. I've also heard $8,000 around the dealership where I work
well i just want to keep this headlights, just want to get the blue xenon hid kits. dont want to swap this headlights for angel. so i would need 2 xenon headlights assemblies and two control modules?
yeah, best bet would have been to just have bought a car with Xenons already installed....but for parts that is essentially it...plus the car has to be reprogrammed to tell the car it has Xenons.
well i got this car as a bday gift from my dad. and i would have to wait 3 months for the car with xenon lights and the color that i wanted, so he decided just to get the car with the color and non xenon, much better then getting the car with xenon and different color.
any idea how much would the kits and reprogramming would cost?
like I said above, I've heard somewhere between 8k-10k it's not a cheap upgrade by any means...usually people inquire about doing the upgrade, but back out after hearing the price...so I only know of one or two being done in our shop.
