I've got a standard BMW CD with 6 CD changer. It is 2005 model which plays MP3 from the main CD player. It somehow does not sound too good. It is worth changing the whole thing or can I just change the speakers to give it more juice?
Advice is appreciated. I don't need it to blast out loud music jsut the soudn to be more bass and crisp.
You bought an ultimate driving machine, not the ultimate sound machine. Upgrade your speakers and it will sound a bit cleaner. Install an amp and a subwoofer and you'll have that extra base. FYI, speakers in the 3-series aren't the easiest in the world to replace.
The business cd/cassette/changer etc, is not bad for a stock entry level piece of kit. The speakers are absolutely rubbish. Replace the speakers with Infinity reference series (or virtually anything!) and you will have a big improvement.
More bass can be had by simply removing the gause at the bottom of the rear speaker pods.

I feel you. If they're not the speed sensitive volume and audio control on the stering wheel, I will change the whole system when I first got the car.
Good morning. I would think the 2005 headunit would be good. But an amp & speakers is where you'll hear the big improvement. I have a '96 Z3 and am getting the stereo vastly improved with a new Pioneer head unit & additional Pioneer speakers (plus the previously installed Infinity speakers) and a Crossfire amp to pump it up. Generally stock head unit don't have the capacity (signal size in volts peak to peak) to handle sufficient power and get it to the speakers cleanly. Good luck.
