wiper blade replacement

I'm changing wiper blades on a 2000 323i and haven't figured out how to remove the plastic shield which is on the driver side arm. How is it removed and what is the purpose of this piece? Thanks.

You may wanna look more closely; that piece is very likely a wind deflector and has no real part in obstructing your access to removing the old blade.

Many retail stores are saying that I should replace the whole arm for driver side and passenger side. They said they don't make refills anymore...is this true?

My 2003 330xi needs 2 new wiper blades. Make really bad noise when it wipes. Where should I buy them? Should I get just the refills (if they still exist) or the entire arms?
