why would i need an oil change 7k miles early?

So Lately my car has been starting up pretty rough in the fall weather...
I asked a friend of mine that day what they thought was wrong and they might thought it might have to-do with the Fuel lines. So they asked me if any of my Check Engine or Warning lights have come on. I said no and went on my way. About an hour later I was driving my car pretty hard and when i got to my destination and turned off my car my oil light stayed on for a few seconds. I let the car sit and later that day i checked the oil, and first off it was almost impossible to get the dip stick out to check the oil (is that normal?) and when i finally got it out my I found that the Oil was pretty low, and it also smelled like gasoline. im not sure if thats normal for BMWs. This is my first BMW and I could use all the help i can get, since i don't trust my Dealership anymore

Two things:

(1) What color oil light are you getting? The orange light indicates you are a quart low.
(2) The fact that you asked why you would need an oil change 7k miles early scares me. With synthetic oil, you still should have your oil changed every 6k to 7.5k miles. Don't trust the BMW recommended interval -- it is designed to keep costs down for the dealership while cars are under warranty.

When did you last change your oil? What is your driving style?

If I were you, I'd change my oil right away. In fact, I will change my oil since it has been 7k miles since my car got an oil change. The indicator in the dash tells me I have 8k miles to go, but I will not pay attention to that.

Oh, and I have had trouble getting my dip stick out as well -- I wouldn't worry about that

First off thank you for ur reply.
The Oil Light thats coming on is Orange/yellow. Also thank you for informing me that i need to get my oil changed more frequently. When I got the car and they informed me that my oil changes were for 15k it AMAZED me but it was too good to be true. I will continue to stick to my regular Oil change times like I had with my old car. But also I do alot of highway driving back and forth from WI to Arkansas and I drive the car pretty hard. But my other question is... Why does it smell like Gas? I know that the oil is the last place the gas ends up but it was a pretty strong odor.
