This is my first post here and I love the site. I have a question to those from Toronto. Where can I buy a new battery for my 325i 2001? My battery is slowly dying and its about 5 years old now so I need to change it. I was just wondering what the prices are for something like this and if i need to go to the dealer to get a new one?
Thanks for the info! Do BMW's require special batteries (i.e. that your run of the mill ford for example would need) or is it pretty much something you can buy at your local Walmart for example?
i second interstate. bmw has a oem type hookup to vent hydrogen, which intertate makes, and thier battery have the best reputation. unlike the crap sold by dealers as oem, it is emphatically not what the cars get in the factory.
Ask any professional auto tech, and Interstate is the way to go. Whatever battery you get, make sure it has the vent tube hookup so the battery acid fumes dont get into your trunk.
They just (about 2 months ago) came out with a direct replacement for our cars. The other one that fit required some slight modifications to the harness/buffer material from what I researched and was told by the Interstate dealer at the Foregin car place I ordered it from that specialized in BMW's.
My battery joined the legion of the dead. When I pulled the old one out I saw the elbow vent hose connection, but I did not see a hose. Can you tell me what its suppose to connect to.
Dangit. Both times I've gotten into my car this evening, both my head unit and my clock have reset. Methinks my battery is giving up the ghost. I took a look, and it seems to be the original unit from 1997. I guess I can't fault it for lasting nine years.
My 325I has need 2 batteries in 2 months- dealer blamed the immobilizer -had it replaced- new battery still dies occasionall overnight. not every day and not at all for the past 2 weeks. Anyone ever hear of this??

Hey Bimma, did you find a battery in GTA? Stealership asking for $240..I found some good ones @ Canadian Tire & Parts Auto for $99, but they are double-vented (I'll need a T-adapter to hook up both vents). Don't wanna spend more than 100-120. Cheers !
