The service manual that came with the car lists out all the different things you're supposed to check/do at each of the different "Inspections". My book's in my car so I can't look it up, but it does list what the service interval is for spark plugs.

i think he means 100,000 miles but i varys it depends how your car is running if it runs reasonable well and smooth plugs should last 85k and Up

imho: all this "tune-up" is not worth anything. an e46 is so new, and comes with platinums, and burns sooooo stinking clean that practically you cannot tell any wear after 50kmiles (if you maintain it). ditto coils, wires and all assorted stuff.
now, if you got hi-voltage coils, urethane bushings, wide throttle body, cold induction or such, this will make a difference, but not because of wear on oem , but because there is a quantitative perfomance difference.
