What Is This Prewired 5 Pin White Connector Hidden In My Overhead Console Panel?!

When I added my Homelink Module last summer I thought this thing that was inside the sunroof switch panel console (shown in the picture below) was a prewiring connector for the BMW SOS/Assist Switch. Turns out that no E46 cars have any prewiring for a BMW SOS/Assist Switch. So I assumed it was a switch for the BMW Bluetooth MIC....





Here is the problem...today I started doing my BMW Bluetooth Retrofit DIY
and to my surprise the MIC connector looks nothing like that...
it looks like this (the black 2-3 pin connector).







So what is this thing? What would it possiblly connect to?

It's the prewiring for the self-destruct module available in Eastern European markets.

actually you are close...someone's best guess was it is for an alarm module although I don't recall ever seeing the OEM alarm have a module that went in that area.

Maybe I will have to believe it until the time comes to DIY the alrm and then I realize it is not for that.

The amount of electronics in a e46 scares me to begin with. The amount of electronics you have added to the e46 on top of the ones it has makes me want to go hide under my bed and not come out. Ever.
