What options do I have on my '00 323Ci?

Hi forum. 2000 323Ci. The dealer said it was black leather but I read on this forum that the leatherette looks just like the real thing. Its 4.5 years old so I assumed that is why it didn't smell like leather anymore. How can I be sure?

I also have a question about if I have an alarm installed. When I lock the doors, there is not a chirp and, the red light on the rearview mirror does nothing,and the lights don't flash. I thought that this might be a key setting so I did the windows down, lock the doors, wait 30 seconds and stick my arm in "test" and nothing happened. I have the motion detector box in the middle of my headliner, but do I actually have an alarm? I also checked to see if the fuses were there and good and they were.

How does the cell phone hook up work? I see the little microphone above the rearview mirror but how does it all work?

If you pop of the cover for the motion detector and there is nothing in there you do not have an alarm .

I think you need a specific, and very expensive phone from BMW in order for it to work.

The interior of my new 330i stopped smelling like leather a few months after I got it......so I don't think you can tell by the smell.

alarm: you can easily check to see the motion sensor. Just like beau said, pop the box cover open and see inside, if you dont see anything, you dont have the alarm.

leather or leatherette: From the first interior picture you posted, you have leatherette. Leather has double stitching on the seats whereas you have one stitching.
