What the heck is up with my blinkers??!!

Hey y'all--

Alright, do I have a low voltage problem, or what? When I turn the ign. on, they seem to work a couple of minutes, but then all of a sudden I'll go to center-off on the turn signal lever, but it won't turn off. The other thing is, it seems to want to default to the left side--that is, even if I just switched on the right blinker, if I go to center, the left blinker will come on.used:

Now, if I start the car, the problem happens within a minute or two of running, and blinker will come on ALL BY ITSELF:

Does anyone have a clue? And, could this tie in with a trans. shifting problem after a few minutes of running and a malfunction light for the trans.?

Well, I'd defintely appreciate a coffee and a scratch on the head for this.

What year, model, etc. Under warranty?

The first thing I would no for any electrical thing like this is to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. You'll have to reset your radio presets probably, but it's a cheap way to reset the computer to default.

I had a crazy dash light that kept coming on telling me that my passenger side rear light was bad. I replaced every damn bulb and it still came on sparatically. Finally, I took the cluster out and looked at the wiring harness and found that there was some corrosion on the number 3 connetcor. Cleaned it off with a little screwdriver and the warning light hasn't come on since. I'm no expert in electronics, but start with the simple things and try to isolate the problem yourself.

Obviously, if the car's under warranty, then I'd have the dealer fix it for free.

Well, trans. seems to be ok now. Dealer tells me they've changed a few turn signal switches for this--I guess we wait and see. They're going to 4-wheel align the car and let me know what they find on the turn signal switch.

It's a good thing I get everything at wholesale.
