WHAT engine size is my car and is it 16V

i have a 2000 W plate 318 ci coupe, i dont no waether it is 16 or 8v , or weather it is 1.8 or a 2.0


can some one please help

eboy1978 is an unknown quantity at this point
Think yours is the 1.9 16v with about 115bhp iirc. The engines changed in 2001 with the 318ci getting a 2.0 16v valvetronic lump and 143bhp

is this an e46? an e46 318? weird. i have a e36 318 and it is 1.8 or 1.9 liters and 4 valves per cyl, so i imagien yours is the same.

yeah it's weird but with the e46 bmw started putting bigger engines in and keeping the model numbering the same.
ie. 318 with 2.0
320 with 2.2

and that's about it....

oh yeah, the 316 ended up having a 1.9 in 2001 as well, albeit slightly detuned.

Engine type S-4, single over head cam(SOHC),8 valves total(2 valves per cylinder)
Displecement 1895cc(1.9)
Max. output 119.6 PS (118.0 bhp) (88 kW)

hello

so mine engine has 2 valves per cyl, so 2 x 4 = 8v

how do you know it is a 8v not a 16v
