What is this?

Today, I replaced my matt silver interior trim with the wood trim I got off ebay. While I was at it, I took the chance to replace my glasses tray because the cover wouldn't close.

I was ready to put things together when I found this plug which I don't remember detaching. Any idea what this is for and where should it go?

My guess is that this is just a pre-wiring for an option that my car probably don't have.

If everything works, then I would go along with what you say pre-wiring.

Any idea though what could this be pre-wired for?

Pop your trunk and see how many "pre-wired for..." labels you see. It must be for one of them.

I got cd, alarm and homelink, all of which I am using.

The only one that my car is "pre-wired" for that I am not using is the cellular phone. Could this be the one?

I'd suspect the phone too.
