I forgot to close the driver side window in water from the sprinklers got all over the interior. Since then I have had a host of electrical issues. Something the red air bag light come on and other times not. The radio works but does not light up. The directions work but do not display on the dash. No air conditioning but it blows hot air. I have checked all the fuse and can not find and that are blown. Before I head off to my local BMW guy and blow a lot of money, does anyone have a suggestion as to how to diagnosis the problem and recommend a solution?
It was not a lot water but it leaked in to all the right places. It appears it seeped into the area behind the instrument cluster and did the damage. With the amount of labor so for, I am sure this will become an expensive leason.
I'm not sure if it's possible, but, you may try filing a claim on your insurance policy. It may be covered under comprehensive. It's worth a try since it's going to cost you a boatload if you have to go to the dealer to resolve it. You may also need to worry about mold issues down the line.
Just go the car back for my local mechanic and they were not able to find the cause(s). They pulled the dash and checked out the cluster but could not find anything. They felt it still could be in the cluster or possible the or something called the can unit. They felt that there maybe something that needs to be reprograms and needs to be brought to a dealer. Can anyone tell me what the can unit does and why there would be a need to re program something?
the final bill came in from the dealer. A very costly stupid mistake on my part. new heater control unit, air control unit, etc.... Now to go find a good aftermarket radio.
