my daughter is hitting me up for the extended factory warranty on her 2001 330 i.
cost is about 2 grand. car runs well at 48,000 miles. not rollin in dough. what is the consensus as to the feasibility of this extended warranty. she will keep this car for 3 years and will put on about 12k per year. bought used last summer. thanks. art
I too just purchased my 2000 323I sedan with 39000 miles on it. The car runs very well and I was also looking to getting an extended warranty. There are sooo many out there that I don't know which to choose. I had an extended warranty for my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Platinum Corporation issued through Warranty Wizard (BAD!). I have had problems previously dealing with them.
Anyhow, my Jeep needed work so I took it in to a Jeep Dealership for service. It needed about $1200 worth of servicing and when it comes down to paying Platinum Corporation wanted to pay by Corporate Check to the dealership!! Dealership turns down the check and ask that I pay first and get an reimbursement from Platinum. I had to call Platinum and ask why...they say that's how they pay. Then I end up towing the car to Pep Boys...the amount came out to be about $1200 including the towing. I had to pay around $239 after barginning with the Pep Boys to lower the inital price tag of $439 (my part). So to make the story short....sometime it's just NOT worth paying the $2500 for the warrant when you have headaches dealing with the claims department and out of pocket...then having to take your vehicle to some junk place like Pep Boys as they have a corporate account with them....that really SUCK! and when I first signed up...Warranty Wizard told me they pay by Credit Card...BULL...SHIT!
Just becareful who you choose. I've heard Wynn is good, but they only offer 3/36...expensive something like $3500. Then theirs Continental Warranty - their backed by Proactive Insurance - 4/48 for about $2500...Named Parts ONLY...which means what is not on the list is NOT covered. You want to get something called an EXCLUSIONARY...which means, what is not listed is COVERED. I know, confusing.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have a good Extended Warranty company you can recommend. Post it here.
just call the dealer and see if they will accept the warranty comapny. nad i would suggest getting the extended warranty if you can becasue you never know what could happen.
What's the deductible on that?? $0, $50, or $100? Also, who did you speak with...I would like to call and just check it out...doesn't hurt.

100$...its there in my post guess yu missed it.....and the particular guys name I dont remember but the way to do it is go to the website and request a quote online and give them your e-mail but dont buy the warranty.....(the prices on the website are higher than what they offer on fone)........then someone from their office will wirte oyu and e-mail (prolly an agent).....and yu can call him up and talk to him personally...they will negotiate like hell....and so do you. I cannot vouvh for their business practices cause I ahvent had a chance to deal with them yet (thankfully ) but I checked their rating with BBB and they are good with no major disputes plus their website and info is better than most online places....and they were cheaper than the dealer......so its a risk...but hey I have a contract and it looks legit and I have peace of mind and thats great too. Who knows....my 0.02$

The extended factory warranty is well worth it, especially since it extends till 100,000 miles, which will enhance the resale of your car should you decide to sell it 2-3 years out......A big issue for used bmw purchasers is the repairs, but the factory warranty will give them peace of mind.........not to mention that you too will have the warranty incase something breaks in the next 3 years
