Warning lights on E46 316ti se compact 02

I have recently been having a problem with my Bmw. When driving, the battery light will suddenly come on for a split second. It seems to turn of the engine but heater, lights, radio etc all stay on.
Another thing that has started to happen is that the traction control light and the abs light come on and stop the engine. They light up amber, never red. My car will not start again when these lights are on. I have to leave the car parked for awhile before i can get it started again.

If anyone could offer any assistance I would be more than grateful!
